thanks to tim's quick eye and my photo documentation, Tennessee has been placed on the map for a rather uncommon moth (no sightings of this moth ever reported in our state since its discovery). i posted a photograph of this moth for ID request on bugguide.net and received a very quick response. one that ended up with ID being given personally by the very discoverer of the moth in 1977, Tom Eichlin, who had named the moth after his wife. a request was also made to me for permission to use my photos for plates in the Moth Photographer's Group; i, of course, happily acquiesced.
here is a link to the page on bugguide.net which hosts my photograph and the comments about its identification:

we ended up spotting another one of these moths the night after finding the previous one; that photograph has been added to bugguide.net as well, under images of Synanthedon kathyae.
